Man fined, banned from hunting for illegal deer kills

A hunter was fined and lost his hunting privileges after admitting he killed two deer illegally in Sussex County, state officials said Thursday.
A report of two white-tailed deer being shot out of season led to an investigation and arrest of William Betts, 25, of Georgetown, said Cpl. John McDerby of the state Division of Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Natural Resources Police.
Betts was charged Monday with two counts each of hunting white-tailed deer during a closed season, possession of unlawfully taken antlered deer and wanton waste of a game animal.
After he pleaded guilty to all six charges in Justice of the Peace Court 3, Georgetown, Betts was fined $3,442 and was banned from hunting in Delaware for two years, McDerby said.
